Industry Nine takes its Ultralite 235 mountain rim and laces it to its new TRA, or Torch Road Alloy, platform to create a wheelset that we're pretty excited about: The Tubeless Ultralite CX 235 TRA Wheelset. It builds up a featherweight wheelset that offers plenty of support for running wider 700c tubeless rubber in the neighborhood of 33 to 55 millimeters wide. This alloy wheelset is an excellent all arounder and is happy turning laps on a muddy cyclocross course or covering B-roads on an adventurous bikepacking trip alike. It satisfies that ever-expanding niche where a road wheelset might be under gunned and a mountain wheelset is a touch overkill. So if you're after a lightweight wheelset that doesn't sacrifice durability or tire support on race day or when exploring mellower trails and gravel, few wheels can compete. Of course, the newest feature of the TRA chassis is its alloy spokes and Torch hubs that allow for the proprietary spoke to thread directly into the Centerlock-disc hub, both machined and anodized in-house at its Asheville, NC facilities. By reducing the nipple/spoke interface and eliminating the j-bend, the wheels are way more responsive, delivering power better as well as handling better under hard cornering and braking. To further optimize the ride quality and add strength, Industry Nine uses a 2:1 spoke lacing pattern with 16 spokes on the rear wheel drive side and the front wheel disc side, complemented with 8 spokes on the opposing side. This spoke orientation not only serves to balance and better even out spoke tension, it also reduces the stress exerted on the rim and lessens the fatigue exhibited on a traditional 24-hole spoke wheel. Therefore, you get the pros of a low spoke count wheelset while virtually eliminating the cons. As we've come to expect from Industry Nine, this wheelset features a responsive 6-degree engagement through its Torch Road freehub mechanism. The Torch Road Hub is slightly reconfigured from its usual Torch Moun...
