We love watching pro cyclists ride, but we also recognize that almost no one in the world actually has a body like that. With summer gear, this is no problem. The materials are so stretchy that we can squeeze into pro-fit gear -- even if maybe we shouldn't. But winter kit tends to be less forgiving. The Giordana Fusion Lightweight Men's Jacket features a relaxed fit for cyclists who aren't necessarily big fans of the skintight fit of most cycling jackets, want the option to layer without feeling restricted, or simply don't have a negative body fat percentage like The Chicken on the eve of the Tour. Most of the jacket is made from the new WBA fabric, which Giordana calls a three layer fabric even though it fits with a minimal material volume that we associate more with a 2. 5-layer construction. Its three main features are a DWR treatment, a middle WindTex layer, and a fleece lining. The combined layers result in the same wind and water resistance that you'll find in the tighter, "race-cut" jackets at the top of Giordana's line. It also presents a soft, brushed face to your skin that insulates well beyond what you'd expect from such a low volume material. The underarms and rear panels are made with ERG200. ERG200 is woven from a thin, multi-filament polyester yarn and has a brushed finish on the inside for extra warmth and fuzzy comfort. The outside is anything but soft, though, and the fabric resists the pilling and abrasions that are so common in thermal winter kit. ERG200's open structure recommends it for use in the back and under the arms, as these areas aren't leading into the wind. It's highly breathable, so it regulates your body temperature and evacuates moisture. Like the WBA of the front and arms, the ERG200 also gets a DWR treatment for 360 degrees of water resistance to keep you dry. Any cyclist can appreciate this as, in winter, "comfortable" and "dry" quickly become synonyms. While it's billed as a jacket for early winter, its fit allows for layer...
